I Shot My Boss

If you get mad at your boss, just shoot them. That is what our office did this past weekend. We went paintballing, it gave me an opportunity to shoot at all of my co-workers. (The guy on the left in the picture is the guy whose name is on the door) Needless to say I never got the big guy, but he shot me right in the back during one match. Got a nice sized welt and my boss bragging about getting me out. Sorry, no funny emails.

EMAILZ

NICE JESSICA. THIS IS MY FAVORITE EMAIL, AND THE ONLY ONE I HAVE FROM THE GUY WHO'S NAME IS ON THE DOOR:

Insanity in the hicks

I have this civil enginner that I am working with. He lives in the county, the hicks. His job is to look at this 150 year old timber barn frame, that is also in the hicks, and tell us what we need to do to make it strong enough for california's structural codes. Thus far, his emails and next to none, and then when he does give information, it comes in the following form:

"jess
let's try wobegone, the barn was about typical. can look a bit woebegone, on the bunks. but all reparable.
oops. computer thinks not. say a bit tired and well worn in.
looking forward to it.
at desk. his/your fax is nearing the top of a tall pile of New Paper.
lunch time ride, though, first
bb"

good. real good.

This makes me jealous of the subways in NYC. Doug and Ryan, any of this look familiar?

All I can think about when I see some of these stations are scenes from the Warriors....

Sweatyguy.com????

Does anyone's office order model supplies online? As much as I hated that smelly bastard he is proving to have spoiled me on model materials, weather they were on order or not. Any one got a good online source?

Just in case anyone was sitting around wondering "I wonder what sort of 'architecture' Chris has been up to in LA", I have a nice little semi-frequently updated page that our client has been keeping. It is here. I did the drawing in the background (reproduced without our permission, but they can do whatever they want, those clients).
It's a pretty small project, knocking out the back of a two-story house, adding on more space and a stairwell enclosure, but rain, the discovery of a seepage pit, and frustrated minds all around have been bogging this project down quite a bit. But hey, them's the breaks. Hopefully it'll be done before next Christmas.
And now I'm doing part-time for two places at the same time. cRaZy! Actually, it's not bad at all since I'm just working with one of the other firms that shares office space with us. So I get to sit at the same desk and do different work. Currently I'm drawing all the existing subway stations from hand drawn plans for context to design a new way of putting up signs in the corridors.
That's my update, hope everyone is enjoying their lives. Remember when we did Capstone? Ah...so long ago...

here comes your lunch

go here RIGHT NOW!!

Its No CAN COBRA, but....

As im sure most of you are taking in the big bucks to be getting your monthly El Croquise and Detail, in case you still get Dwell my firm SHED has a project featured this month.  The title of the article is “Halving it all” and as Doug has nicknamed it the project is “Big Red”.  In the article if you look through the kitchen to the horizontal cedar slat fence, that was my contribution to the project, again not as slick as a can cobra but I built it, and it is in print.  Check it out when you get a chance.  Our Website is up and running which has been my bane for some weeks but at least I got to put some penguins in the mix.  www.shedbuilt.com

If Architecture Fails

If you have a great idea you most likely should Patent it to make sure nobody else steals the idea. Here is a site to make sure your invention is not somebody elses. A good friday/monday morning laugh...

you suck.

1. doug is currently on a plane to japan (possibly directly above frosty right now)
2. at one point during that horrible game they actually said jordan farmar is named after michael jordan... heinous. i apologize if anyone heard this or was actually rooting for the bruins.
3. help sarah finish school out of debt and stick it to our least favorite tucson institution by sending her your unused posners cards (that is, if they haven't already been destroyed or fashioned into effigies of stinky dude for voodoo rituals) let me know if you would like to donate or just send 'em to the school office, thanks.

i am asking that everyone join me in the despicable act of rooting for ucla tonight, so that "daniel telles" may beat kennedy in our espn pool. it is for a good cause and i'm sure lute will forgive us.
